Pull Up A Chair 2.0 is coming in 2023
2.0 will be funded by a grant  from MSAC .

Pull up a chair meaning-a friendly invitation to join a conversation

The purpose of this project is to promote community conversation about our differences, similarities and all the attributes that makes us the same. Family, love, loss, home, education, etc.

Invited artists will have an opportunity to share their individual story using the chair as the canvas.

Each chair will depict a story, social justice issue, family connection, community connection or the chair functionality.  I.e., wheelchair, child’s highchair, salon chair, barber’s chair, office chair, desk chair, dining room chair, upholstered chair, director’s chair, etc.

More information to come.  Sandra has received a micro grant to help fund this project from The aShe Fund.

Work in progress: "The Crown Act"

What is the "Crown Act"?

The CROWN Act, which stands for “Creating a Respectful and Open World for Natural Hair,” is a law that prohibits race-based hair discrimination, which is the denial of employment and educational opportunities because of hair texture or protective hairstyles including braids, locs, twists or bantu knots.
